OPERATING HOURS:
BALDWIN COUNTY UNIT & EDUCATION CENTER School Year: Monday – Friday 2:30 – 6:30 P.M. Summer: Monday – Friday 12:30 – 6:00 P.M. JONES COUNTY UNIT: School Year: Monday – Friday 2:30 – 6:30 P.M. Summer: Monday – Friday 12:30 – 6:00 P.M. *Special Note: Whenever the schools are closed, the Boys & Girls Club will be closed. CLUBHOUSE RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
1. NO PROFANITY!!! 2. Rated “G” only in speech. 3. No fighting or bucking. 4. No alcohol, tobacco, drugs, firearms or other weapons allowed on the premises. 5. BULLYING IS NOT ALLOWED. (This includes no name calling.) 6. If you do not have anything good to say, then do not say anything at all. 7. Walk in the game room area. 8. Walk when crossing the street. 9. No food or drink is allowed in the Technology Lab. 10. Keep your hands to yourself. No horse playing. 11. No cliques should be formed. 12. No screaming at each other. 13. Complete all the homework before playing. 14. Be on your best behavior at all times. 15. Always show respect to others. 16. Sign in and out daily at the front desk & with your group leader. 17. Stay with your own age group. 18. Follow the Staff’s Directions. 19. HAVE FUN, FUN, FUN!!! An infraction of any of the Club rules could result in the following actions being taken: A. Time Out B. Assigned chores around the Club. C. Sentences. They will vary due to the infractions. No matter what age the child is; all sentences must be hand written. D. Suspension from the Club or extended suspension. E. Expelled from the Club indefinitely. Parents/Guardians will be informed if his/her child has been suspended from the Club. Alternate arrangements WILL NOT be made to allow the child to return to the Club before the suspension period ends. |

This handbook should serve as your guide to our program. Please save this material for future reference. We hope that it will help you better understand the procedures and rules of the Boys & Girls Club of Baldwin and Jones Counties, Inc. We look forward to getting to know you and your children. OPEN DOOR POLICY: The Boys & Girls Club cannot legally require a club member to stay at the club. The understanding of their leaving the Club must exist between the parents/guardians and the child.
ATTENDANCE: Unlike school, attendance at the Club is not mandatory. However, it is encouraged. A child’s attendance may be restricted if he/she has been assigned sentences or suspended from the Club. If your child does not attend school on a particular day or has been suspended from school for whatever reason, he/she cannot attend the Club.
SICKNESS: Out of concern for all the club members, your child will not be allowed to stay at the Club if he/she is ill. The parents/guardians will be called using the information on file to request that the child be picked up. NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Other than administering basic first aid treatment, the staff will neither administer nor supply youth with medical treatment, medicine, shots, etc... Medicines such as Tylenol, aspirin and prescribed medicines will only be distributed if you have a within permission form on file. The permission must include type of medicine, assigned times and amount to be administered.
In the event of an emergency or accident, the staff will put forth an earnest effort to contact the parent/guardian, by using the telephone numbers that are on file. If emergency medical treatment is needed, the member will be taken to ORMC or 911 will be
called.
PERSONAL ITEMS: Members are asked not to bring any personal or valuable items to the Club including but not limited to toys, balls or
electronic devices. THE CLUB IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.
PICKING UP YOUR CHILDREN: Parents/Guardians, it is your responsibility to keep up with the opening and closing times of the facility. It is also your responsibility to pick the child up from the Club prior to the closing time of the Club. If other arrangements have been made regarding your child’s transportation, please contact the club to make sure that the child has been picked up prior to closing. If your child is not picked up in a timely fashion, you will receive a written notification. The late notice must be read, signed and returned to the Club before the child can return to the Club. Thereafter, tardiness will result in your having to pay a late fee of $10.00 per child each time you are late (in excess of 10 minutes). The money has to be paid before the child can return to the Club. If tardiness appears to be extreme (30-60 minutes), not only will you forfeit the opportunity to receive a written warning (the late fees will be enforced immediately) and the proper authority (Police, Sheriff, etc…) will be notified, when there is no communication on the part of the parent/guardian. This is to ensure the safety of the children.
The staff should be notified if someone other than the parent/guardian is picking the child up. The person picking up the child must be prepared to show a current driver’s license. If a particular person is not allowed to pick your child up, you need to notify the staff in writing and/or proper legal documentation. Make sure the information is placed in your child’s file.
TELEPHONE USAGE: When you call the Club to speak to your child, you will be asked to leave a message if it is not an emergency. Due to the volume of children we serve, members will not be allowed to use the phone unless they are returning your call or it is an emergency.
FIELD TRIP POLICY: The Club will plan field trips from time to time. If your child will be participating in a scheduled trip, he/she must bring back permission form. Permission WILL NOT be taken neither over the phone nor through a hand-written note. THE CLUB’S PERMISSION FORM MUST BE SIGNED AND RETURNED IN A TIMELY FASHION OR AS REQUESTED.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT: Parents/Guardians, if your child has a problem at the Club, please encourage him/her to talk with a staff member immediately. We ask that the parent/guardian contact us to discuss any concerns you may have. Problems can be resolved through respectful communication and cooperation with one another.
Parents/Guardians are asked to assist us in our efforts to help our members become positive and productive individuals by
assisting us in our efforts to enforce Club rules and policies at all times.
Please take the time to sit down and discuss these rules with your child to make sure that he or she clearly understands them. It is important that you respect, understand and abide by the Club rules. If you, the parent/guardian, do not fully understand the rules, please speak with the staff member.
DRESS CODE TO BE ENFORCED: The Boys & Girls Club endeavors to instill upon our youth the importance of self-respect. In view of
this, we ask that the club members and parents respect the dress code.
A. No paraphernalia may be worn that either solicits gangs, violence, drugs, or illicit acts.
B. Young ladies are not allowed to wear shirts that show their midriff or that is extremely revealing. Modesty is to be used when it comes to skirts, shorts, and shirts.
C. Young men must wear pants on their waste and always wear a shirt.
Actions will be taken to resolve these issues (e.g. call parent/guardian, turn shirts inside out, given a shirt to wear, time-out,
etc…).
SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS: Parents/guardians will be asked to attend one (1) Parent Prevention Session each quarter to ensure that you are aware of the information being presented to the youth.
Parents/guardians respect the rules of the Club. Children learn by example. So let us all set a good example, as well as serve as a positive role model for today’s youth. We appreciate your cooperation in this area.
Parents/guardians are asked to donate at least two hours of volunteer time to the program each month. This may be done by assisting
the Club with fund-raisers or just spending quality time at the Club with your child or children. The purpose of this is to let the club member know that you are interested in their daily activities.
Parents/guardians will need to provide snacks or snack money for their children; also and if your child signs up for a field trip, additional money may be needed for the trip.
Parents/guardians, please keep in mind that you are also asked to enforce and/or apply all club rules.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: In the event of an emergency, the Boys & Girls Club of Baldwin and Jones Counties, Inc. will evacuate to the multi-purpose fields at their individual locations. If long-term evacuations are necessary, the Clubs will evacuate to the following locations:
CLUB MEMBERSHIP DUES: Membership dues for the School Year are $110.00 per child, A $35.00 deposit is required for club member to start. The deposit will be deducted from the total membership dues. The remaining balance has to be paid in minimum payments of $25.00 on the 15th of October, December, and February. Summer membership dues are $50.00 per child.
Parents/guardians, youth ages 6 to 16 have the option of visiting the Club for $5.00 per day if they do not wish to become a club member. Those paying to visit the Club cannot go on any field trips due to liability purposes.
RETURNED CHECK FEES: There will be a $35.00 fee charged on all returned checks. This is an addition to any other expenses or fees that may be incurred as a result of a returned check.
